Help with picking tires size
I am going to be ordering some new wheels in the next couple of days here and need help chosing what sized tire to go with. The wheels are Beyern Type Mesh 4 17X7 with an et of 27. http://www.beyernwheels.com/BMW_whee...n_typemesh.php
I plan on going a bit lower, maybe an inch to inch and a half and dont want any rubbing issues. I like a sidewall, not stretch here please. I am thinking a 215/45? Your experience/suggestions are appreciated. Thanks

Not too easy. very little clearance
17X7 with an et of 27 means you are running the wheel about 20mm more to the outside of the wheel well.
The place you will rub is on the inner edge of the plastic wheel arches.
Trim the plastic with a dremmel, use tires that are smaller in tire diameter such as less than 24" but be sure to keep tire load rating at least 84 for street use as Alex mentioned.
For 17" you can't really go much more narrow than 205mm. Lowering your suspension makes for much less clearance. Using a fully adjustable coilover will allow you to drop just enough to avoid rubbing and try to use more negative camber in the rear for more clearance but don't overdo it since more negative camber in the rear will increase understeer.

Decided to go with a different wheel becasue the fitment was just something I did not want to deal with. Still looking for something similar in design but have not come up with anything just yet. If anyone knows of a similar wheel that would work let me know.
