HP All-Season Tire Recommendation

Go to www.tirerack.com and check out their tests of tires. All I know is the Continentals will probably cost at least twice as much as the Kumhos, depending on the size...maybe even more than that.

Like I said, I have tracked my ASXs. They hold the roads and the tracks well, but I like them best in dry weather. In the rain, and if it is raining hard, you MUST repect the conditions...that is to say, I don't drive fast in rain, no matter if I'm on the track or on regular roads. They don't slip...it's just that, at least for me, wet conditions make me more respectfully cautious.

Well welshJeff & I have different opinions on this one. While the ASX is a fine value priced street tire it really is crappy on track. I got 3 track days out of a set & they were loose as a goose. Maybe I should have driven slower. If you have a set & are headed to the track sure use them, but if you are looking for a HP all-season to track keep looking.

Yes a fine value priced street tire. Just don't expect much if you track them. My experience with them makes me think I'd buy something else next time. My fault for thinking a cheap all-season could live through a few track days. For me now it is HP summer rubber & winter tires when conditions warrant. Your mileage may vary.

Another fan of the ASX here. I have *not* driven them on track or autocross, but they have been on countless club runs with ...errr... "spirited" driving and have done great. Agreed that they are probably not THE best tire out there, but excellent bang for the buck. I run them in 205/50/16.

I had the Kuhmos on my car and they wore out after about 20K. They were a decent all season tire. I just recently replaced them with Goodyear Eagle GTs that have a 50K warranty (vs Kuhmo's 30K in my size 205-50-16). After having them on the car for about 500 miles, I'm liking them better than the Kuhmos. They weren't that much more.

If I had to have all seasons, I'd go with Nokian WRG2.
I use these tires in the winter months. In rain, you forget there is rain, in snow, you forget there is snow, and in the dry, you forget you are using all seasons. The provide excellent dry traction, braking, and road holding abilities, but not as good as my Nokian Vs.
I'll never run tires made by anyone else again.
- Slush edge
- Wipe sipe
- Canola-silica compound
- Purified oils
- Power on/off stabilizer
- Inside - outside design
- 3 D self-locking siping
