>>My 03 MCS has 17" S lite wheels on it and I'm getting ready to go up to either 18x7.5's w/215/35's or 17x7's w/215/45's. My question is, if I have 50mm of positive offset in my stock wheels how much offset should I aim for in the new wheels to avoid rubbing after I install my new springs? 35mm, 40mm, 45mm???

The answer is if you keep your stock springs then you can consider offsets from 37mm to 48mm but once you lower your MINI you will need to be very careful how much offset you choose. It all depends on which set of lowering springs you install. For the H-sport the range is 42-48mm offset and for less risk of rubbing try 215/40-17 tires. You can call Randy Webb/Webbmotorsports to discuss offsets.

>>I wish someone would answer my question. I'm looking at 17x7s 4x100 bolt, with a 40mm offset, and 205/40 tires.. Will I rub??!

For the cooper using stock suspension you can use offsets from 37 to 48mm with no rubbing. I'd recommend 215/45-17 or 215/40-17 tires. No rubbing with either if you use stock springs.
