Quite noticeable vibration while at speed, Possible cause tires?

Hi, My MINI's 2 years old with ~22300 miles on her, It's an 2008 Cooper S R56 and I've got an interesting vibration while at speed, between 55 mph to 70 mph its very noticeable. its a very consistent vibration even on new smooth pavement. its very annoying.

I just had the car Re-aligned and the tires re-balanced to hopefully cure it but alas it did not.
The tech said that my tires were at half life on the outsides and little less than half in the centers, I've been running 40psi for the added response and boost in MPGs so I guess the tires wore a little un-evenly.

Does this sound like the cause of the vibration while driving? or could it be something more serious like suspension out of whack.
I drive in and around Boston every day so Idk if say like the struts have minority mushroomed. doubt it, they were suppose to take care of that in the newer R56
The car has been in the shop four times now for rattles and squeaks that are driving me crazy and I think they could be because of the rough ride.
I've mentioned to them about the vibration but they haven't done anything NOR HAVE THEY BEEN ABLE TO FIX ANY OF THE CLEARLY NOTICEABLE NOISES COMING FROM THE CAR. But that's another rant for another section of the site, keep an eye out for that one, lol

Ok back on track.. Do tires get vibrations when worn in the upper miles of they're life? especially the stock Run-craps, It's my first car so I do not know about how tires wear from experience.
Thanks for the input.
-Peter

Also thinking of getting new tires, and need to decide, possibly going for Continental DWS's any input from people who have them/tired them? thanks

Did it start with a tire/rim change?
If a rim is bent, or a belt is broken in a tire, could be a tire, even if balanced...
Could be a rim...if bent
Or mounted to a dirty hub, or using the wrong hucentric rings with aftermarket rims....

PS running rock hard runflats extra hard is due to cause tons of extra wear and tear, not to mention rattles....
