What a difference!

So I bought my MINI last October, it's an 06 and it had about 8500 miles on it. Original Runflat tires (195/55/16).

I just put new 17" Enkei's with 205/45/17 Hankooks. What a difference getting rid of the Run flats.

No road noise, I can hear the burble, the ride is so much smoother, it takes getting used to.

Best mod to my car yet!

That's the 1 thing that turned me off about the Mini's I drove. They all have a lot of tire noise. Glad to know that doing away with the runflats will solve the problem. Are the wheels specifically designed for runflats only or will they accommodate non-runflat tires? I actually like some of the wheels that come on the Mini's and would hate to have to buy wheels and tires just to do away with run flats.

Very nice, can we get a picture of the full side of the car? I've got a white top too, and I'm trying to get an idea how good black wheels look.

Aren't Imolas 17x7.5? Next set of rubber look into 215/40/17s. Bit wider

I've got about 2000 on my Hankooks, and they are a bit louder with road noise now. No where near the Runflats, though.

So what to do if you get a flat in a MCS with no spare? Fix-a-flat maybe?

Most of us either carry a Slime kit, or a AAA card.

I don't know how I got 37k from my original Continental runflats on lousy NYC roads but I did - well, I kept the inflation right and memorized every pothole on my commute. Can't wait to switch to regular tires though - can't take the jolts anymore. I want it all - smoother riding, great handling, all season tires for bad roads. Any suggestions for tires and a good shop in the NYC area? 2007 Cooper S coupe. Many thanks.

Here is a couple of pics from the side. Had the new wheels and tires on for about 10 days, and have not had a chance to give everything a good washing.

Here is my solution. I had already removed my rear seat, so I put a kit underneath the new flat floor I made. 12volt compressor, slime kit, and puncture kit.

don't know about NYC, but I got my tires and wheels through Tirerack and used one of the recommended installers locally. I have no issues with either Tirerack or the local installer. I will use them when I get my all seasons to put on my 16" rims for the winter.
