New Tire Question

I recently purchased a set of NON-runflats. Why didn't I do this sooner? I love that they are quieter and provide a much nicer ride. I have even noticed the torque steer is greatly reduced. The only negative I have noticed is that at 65+ MPH the front end feels like and the car drifts back and forth a little (the steering feels really light). Any ideas of why this might be?

Were you traveling on 405 when you felt this or is it independent of the road?

What Non RFT are you using?

The tire design and the amount of thread on the tire can sometimes give you that feeling. It is called tramlining. My Yoko AD08 used to do that all the time sometimes moving 1-2 feet sideways when it catches a seam on the road.

I purchased the pilot exalto PE2's in the 205 45 zr17 size. I do drive on the 405, but I have noticed it on other freeways and highways as well.

First thing to do is check the air pressure & make sure it is where you want it. Too much air can lead to a smaller contact patch on the road & tram-lining. Some tires are more prone to tram-line that others.

It also takes some time to break in new tires. You need to wear the mold release off of the tires. Until that is done new tires can fell squirmy.
