Very surprised that more people didn't mention the new version of the Falken Azenis RT-615k. Fantastic tire. Smooth ride, excellent turn-in, incredible traction wet and dry. Reasonably quiet, even when being tortured on an auto-x course. Much more traction than the RT-615 I had previously.

You made a good choice. Consumer Reports just did an article on Hi-Perf tires and the Yoko S. Drives came in last out of 21 tires, confirming Car and Drivers low opinions of those tires.

Well I've got 5,000 miles so far on my S.Drives and have no buyers remorse! Driven in wet, dry, aggressive canyon carving, stop and go street driving... Consumer Reports also knocked the MINI years ago...not exactly an agency that I identify with.

Actually, Consumer Reports always said the MINI was fun to drive. They did pan it for being unreliable, which is true. Let's face it, as much as we love the character of these cars, they have some idiosyncrasies that we tend to overlook that CR doersn't. Also, I wouldn't have put as much stock in their testing if it didn't pretty much mirror the Car and Driver results, a magazine that I think we can agree is more oriented towards the enthusiast. To be fair, though the S. Drives were last, they still placed average to better than average in all spots but noise, where they earned a worse than average rating. I understand that you have them and like them and that's great. Obviously they meet or exceed your requirements!

good call on the star specs!! thats what i have on my car too and i love them!
I also had a set of the re-11's back when bridgestone was doing the $100 dollar rebate which brought them down into my price range. They are an AMAZING tire if you have enough cash to get them. very sticky and great in the wet but they dont last as long as some of the other tires with a 180 tread wear...
