Brake Pad Life - front versus rear?
I'm very surprised that the rear pads on our '03 MCS don't last far longer than the fronts. On every other front wheel drive car I've had, my experience has been that the rear brakes last far longer (2 to 3 times as many miles) as the fronts. But then again all the other front wheel drive cars I've had were drum brakes in the rear. Is that the difference? We have had our Mini since new, and much of our driving is on the highway, so brakes last a long time for us...each set of front pads have lasted 50,000-60,000 miles. But our experience has been that the rear pads last only 5,000-10,000 miles longer. Is that back to front ratio fairly typical? What has everyone else experienced? Thanks.

Yeah...but it depends on how you drive....I actually wore out my rears before the fronts!!
I guess I need to stomp on my brakes harder!!
With the corner braking system on the mini where any of the 4 brakes can be activated by the stability, traction control, and ABS, the old rules have kinda gone out the window!! Just replace them when they are worn out and thin!!
