Can I repaint the chrome wheels?

I got an S about 2 weeks ago, and today I picked up some chrome wheels off of craigslist. they are the 17in. MINI chrome wheels (I have the 17in ones now just not chrome), however 2 of them are kinda scuffed up....like someone used a wire brush to clean them

I saw this before i purchased and figured it wasn't too big of a deal. Is there any place I can take these babies to and get them repainted for not too much money? or can they not be repainted. thx

...chrome is a plating process...not paint.
You could scruff them up, prime them, and them paint them, but they would not be chrome anymore....
Try to polish them up...my guess is having them re-chromed is $$$.

your best bet is to find the wheel repair place nearest you. I'm sort if the boonies and there are still several shops locally that do wheel repairs, some are even operated out of trailers and will come to you. Get an estimate; they'll tell you what they can do - buff it out, or rechrome ....

I just googled wheel repair san diego and got pages of listings . . .

Send an email to these guys in California, they do Chrome plating and can re chrome a wheel for around 125-150. Send it to them and they turn it around in about 5-7 days.

What places I have to get a wheel fixed?

And to the OP I would have to agree with others here have them rechromed don't try to have them painted the effort is not worth it. Get some light weight painted wheels before you try to pain the chrome ones.

in JAX I'd try

http://www.wheelinnovations.com/

Welcome to Wheel Innovations, the choice provider of aluminum wheel repair among insurance companies and
body shops throughout the United States.

We work directly with our customers to repair
or replace damaged alloy and steel wheels

I can't coment on how good either is tho as I've never had a wheel needing such repairs - knock on wood.

Most chrome wheels are only chromed on the face, unless you pay a lot for them.

Having a wheel chromed, is actually better, because the wheel is stripped, cleaned and dipped from copper to nickel to it's final chrome plating stage.

This means the ENTIRE wheels is chrome rather than just the face and the inside, or brake/rotor side is painted grey.
