TPMS Question
So now I am looking to get a set of wheels and tires for my 2009 MINI Cooper S. Now I am hearing conflicting stories around TPM requirements. One delaler told me that I don't need any sensors with the set because the TPM is part of the ABS
. However there are post that shows that I will have to buy a TPMS kit with the tire and wheels. Hope someone can clarify this.
I am looking to get the Tenzo Cuzco V1 and Hankook V12's.
Thank you.

For a 2009 car (US models anyway, don't know aboot Canadian) you will need TPMS sensors, and the 2007-2009 are different than the 2010 and up, so be sure to get the right ones. Tire Rack has them.....
Pre-2007 cars did not require the sensors, they used the ABS system to monitor the difference in rolling speeds and hence tire pressure.
You could check your owner's manual and see what type your car has.....

Canadian MINI TPMS
Last May I got a 2nd generation 2007 Canadian spec Cooper which has the indirect TPMS system. The system worked properly with the steel rims and snow tires last winter but as soon as the alloy wheels and summer tires were put back the warning light came on after 10 minutes of driving unless I reset the system each time before I drive. I now have the winter tires back on and the problem is still here. My MINI dealer has tried to fix this problem several times including checking the ABS sensors which apparently trigger the TPMS by comparing the rotation speeds of the wheels. Anyone out there have this problem?
