TPMS Fault code - Gen 2
I've had tires and wheels swapped out numerous times and the TPMS usually just needs to be reset.
Just had new tires installed and it won't allow me to reset. The "reset" option doesn't even come up. Instead, I get this: CC-ID 142
In addition, the TPMS warning initially flashes up at start-up on the tach, then just turns into the warning triangle at the bottom of the tach. It never shows up on speedo.

Hi,
Did you ever figure out the problem? I'm currently experiencing the same thing. Per the suggestion of some past posts I read, I'm going to try and up my PSI to what is indicated on the inside of the driver's side door, 38 psi (I'm running 35 or so right now, as I no longer have run flats).

I am getting ready to swap out R98 17" wheels on my 2009 clubby with 16" wheels from a 2010 R56. I was informed at my MINI dealer that there are three different types of TPMS modules in use with 2009, 2010 and 2011 MINIs and that they are not interchangeable with the TPMS system in your MINI. Therefore, I am planning to have the TPMS modules from my 17" wheels reinstalled on the 16" wheels and soon offer the TPMS modules from the 2010 for sale. This may seem convoluted but I would sure hate to install new tires on the 16" wheels with the 2010 TPMS modules and then have them not compatable with the overall system in my 2009.

@Hawkeye - that blows! 3 different TPMS modules????? On my '08 I bought an extra set sensors, through them on my summer wheels and it was a done deal. Unless you absolutely trust your dealer, I may get a second opinion...

Confirming 2010's and 2009's are different
Having been through this. 2009 sensors don't work on a 2010, or specifically a 2010 with a build date of 9/09. They have to be the 2010+ sensors. Don't know if they changed yet agai in 2011 (which seems odd to me; I think the 2010 change may have given them added info electronically already).
