Wheels and tires question

Hi all. I am looking onto purchasing new wheels and tires for my new Spice Orange MCS. I am looking at the Rota RB 17 inch flat black. Right now Ginger is not lowered, but she probably will be in the future. I would like to go with the widest setup I can that will lork both now, and when she gets lowered. Now I have about a $1500. budget that I would like to stay under. I am looking for summer tires only for use in the Chicago area, potholes are pretty bad. I will not be tracking her so that is not an issue. The rims and tires will come off in the winter and switched out for the stock. I would like to keep it as cheep as possible but still perform well for lots of spirited driving. Also, please advise on any spacers I would need, as I am pretty much a newbie and not sure what all I need. I would also like to put on a new swaybar but don't know if this all will fit in the budget.

Cheers
Josh

I went with 17in Team Dynamics Pro Race 1.2 wheels (7.0 x 17 from 17.3lbs e+15/18/20/25/30/38/45/50 (best for the MINI in a 45mm offset, 4x100)) http://www.outmotoring.com/mini-coop...-pro-race.html A set of 4 is ~ $750

TSW Sport Springs and H-Sport Camber links ~$500

215/45/17 Yokohoma Avid Envigors ~$400

Thats around $1250

I think you could add a sway bar in there easily.

Josh,

Give 16" a thought?

The 17" with a true low profile high performance tire does NOT like potholes (check the statistics in the mushrooming poll).

The 17" rim and tires are more expensive.

The 16" setup is lighter.

More folks run 16" in autocross than 17, for several reasons including diameter (affects overall gearing), weight, and fitment.

A 16x7 or 16x7.5 with 40-42 mm of offset should handle 215s according to what I know and read here. Anyone disagree?

Just a thought, not trying to jar your preserves.

Cheers,

Charlie
