I think the tires look like rubber bands. Of course you can ignore what I think cause I'm old.

Anybody got 20"ers?

That is very, very nice. I just got my s lowered with H-sports and I promised myself to stick with 17" but now am I just a lagger. I want to keep some semblance of a decent ride.
May the breath of 10 camels be upon you, I am so jealous. I have to be honest here many coopers I have seen on this site just have low-mid quality rims but hre is just top notch (and hey no centering rings needed because they make them to order). Make that 20 camels

Of course, there's not much rubber left for cushioning imperfections on the ground at this stage. In my opinion 19's are just too big and heavy for the MINI, but I have to admit, your black MCS looks badass.

ahhhhhh....yes, there was one who preached the about quality wheels such as the HRE's

IMHO, if you run Hamann's or HRE's ( "heavy" wheels)and people tell you they're boat anchors, they're missing the point. I think they're gorgeous, and if certain situations permit...well, you get the idea...

I'm nervous running 215/40/17 on my wheels in the NJ winter with all the potholes and such. On 19's, he's gotta be running lower profile...wow. I was thinking 18's at one point, cannot imagine that now. I truly "feel" the road now on my running gear, and I am not shocked.

If the car is a daily driver and you're not doing auto-x, why not go for heavy, stylish wheels? I like the looks of the R90, Breytons, Hamann's and HRE's. Sure, it might be overkill for the MINI, but many of us have gone overboard

So they're $1200 each and heavy? Given that they're very average looking and not styled any differently than many of the five-spokes out there for a fraction of the cost, what makes them worth so much money?

3 piece forged wheels. Craftsmanship is one aspect here. If you've heard of suits made on Saville Row, or John Lobb shoes - HRE's fall under a similar category. They are custom made for your vehicle. Typically found on cars like Aston Martins and similar ilk. Compare Seiko to Patek Phillipe watches...both tell time, in fact, the Seiko may actually do it better. But the Patek Phillipe is art....

I'm older.

Not really. They're not unique, and they're certainly not attractive. They look like just more anycar wheels. I guess the forging argument is the only one that gives any clarity on why these are so overpriced.

They're expensive because of hype more than anything. Ask some kid who doesn't know any better and he'll tell you HREs are bling bling money aint' a thing badass wheels that are sick style **** dude ha! With that said, they are nice and quality wheels......I myself much prefer FIKSE and Kinesis, but they don't have as many different designs.

Both are beautiful wheels.

Personally... and of course it's JMHO..... I just can't bring my self to be able to justify the price of these wheels on these MINI's ????
$1200 for a rim ($4800) total.... on a car that costs $20-25k.... is a bit too...rich for my taste and just doesn't something I would not be able to justify...
Again... it's just my personal opinion... and it's "what makes for a horse race"... if you've ever heard that statement...

Peace,
D

Why are BBS & SSR wheels more $$$ than Konigs or Kosei's?

I guess the forging argument is the only one that gives any clarity on why these are so overpriced.
There is more to it than just forging - they are 3 piece wheels as well and can be made to order. I can see the allure of fine products, be it a camera, watch or DVD player. I'm sure some have spent 5 grand on ICE for their MINI's...just a matter of personal taste.

I can see alot of us don't like the black wheel thing...I guess I am partial to this look. These are my other cars.....M5 and RennTECH CLK60......of course, both have black wheels.

SEE PAGE# 530 IN MEMBER MINI GALLERY.

I wish someone would give me step-by-step instructions on how to attach pics to my posts.
