225/45/17 too big?
just order a new set of wheel that is 17 x 7 40offset. for a 09 jcw clubman. stock suspension. as of today.. but AST-5100 is on order. wont be install till next month.
but it seem that there is not many choices with 225/40/17.
so the question is will 225/45/17 too big in size or would going 235/40/17 be better. remember the car will be lower, but not slam.
I was going to try out the new Michelin PSS. if I recall the PS2, it run wide.

You can use this site as a guide to determine wheel fitment and side wall
increase/decrease. Can put in a few different size tires for a quick side by side comparison.

The 45 profile while closer to stock, is a bit taller so depending on the tire, you may sacrafice lateral stability during hard cornering....basically wider is not always better.
The best compromise for stock rims and alike I have found is the 215/40/17. And a fairly large selection to choose from.
