tWO QUESTIONS ABOUT TIRE SIZE

Heres my first question Ihave a 195/50/r16 tire how tall is it i think its the 195 number but my friend insists its the 50 # ........ Next is i plan on putting 17 on my mini cooper i have only found 205's what i dont want is to gain rollout this will throw my gearratios of is the diffrence really that bad ar can it be gainded back with exhaust an intake mods ?

The 195 is the tire length (or width), accross the tread, the 50 refers to the aspect ratio, i.e., 50% of the 195. The stock 16" MCS tire is 195/55 16. Which you can go to 205/50 16 with similar overall diameter.

Your friend is correct, the 195 is the width in mm of the tread, while the 50 is the sidewall aspect ratio / half of the width in height. If you go with stock sized 17" wheels, a 45 sidewall height should work out fine. No problem with the speedo / gearing. 205s will be fine, 215s are the max and might result in minimal body rub with some offsets.

THanx guys one more does BFG have anything worthwhile for car tires
i know there r&d is extensive but has it paid off versus other tire makers
