Expensive/Rare Wheel Thread. Let's talk.
Ok so I'm not sure how much feedback I will get here. From what I have seen it seems to be popular among the MINI community to get wheels but typically these are very reasonably priced wheels. 'Cheap' is such a relative term though so that's why I didn't use it. You see a lot of MINI's with wheels that can be had for $125-$200 each. While this isn't exactly 'cheap' for some people, it can be considered reasonably priced for what is on the market.
I'm curious as to how many people actually put expensive wheels on their MINI's. Again expensive is a relative term but I was thinking in the $400-$600 range each. I know there is more expensive than that and feel free to chime in. I'd like to see how many are out there.
I personally am looking to pick up my all time favorite wheel, the Advan RS. One problem is that I literally can't find anyone that is currently running it (neither any used for that matter) and thus I must buy new. Even new these suckers are ~$500+ per wheel. To some this may sound outrageous but I am very much considering it. I'm just trying to decide if I want to spend that much money for wheels. Maybe there are cheaper, just as nice options out there. I just don't know. But it seems that all the wheels I REALLY love are all expensive.
Either way, chime in. Show us what you've got. Show us those expensive or rare wheels. You know you spent all that money, now show them off.

I had some RCs for my E30, got them for $200 shipped from a guy who was just going to throw them away cause they needed to be powdercoated! LOL.
My wheels are only $250/each new.. so mine are cheap :P
In talking to you though, it seems you would be much happier putting that $2k into performance and spending $1k on wheels. There are some TE-37s on here for 999.99.. not a bad price.
But I am not sure what you are looking for.

Ive had a few different sets of somewhat unusual wheels on my car and most were in the $ 400 to $500 range.
I started out with Hamman 17/8 .
Then i bent one at the track .
I never could get the Hamman silver shade correct in the paint shop so I ended up getting them powder coated body color and the lips polished which pretty much made sure I would not see another set like them . I have 215/45 BFG-KDW2's mounted and use these mostly as my street and show wheel.
After bending my street wheels I though it would be good to get a set for the track so I picked up a set of Volk Le-37 again in 17/8. I used to run Toyo Ra'1's on this set.
After a bit of time I came across a set of Ro-Ja lt-5's which were even lighter than the Volk so I sold those and went with the Ro-ja's which I still have with 205/40 Ra'1's mounted.
My most recent purchase was a set I have never seen here in the states but they are well known in the UK. They are made by a company called Superlight and are a 17/8 three piece billet and I have falken rt 615's mounted . These make for a nice set of higher performance street and canyon arrangement.

Do love an RS but the problem would be that I have HUGE front brakes. Well more so the caliper is a huge StopTech and I'm just not sure about clearance with the RS, especially if they're smaller than 17.

Stop Tech and he still needed a spacer. BBK's really narrow down your wheel choices.

duvinclunk: I just replied to your PM before seeing this thread. All along I thought you were asking about the Advan Neova AD08 I was thinking of getting for my R53. I used to have 17" Advan RS in gunmetal but sold it to a friend who still has it on his R53. I haven't seen him in a while so I don't know if I can get pics of it.
With regard to expensive wheels, the only notable ones I've had on Smacky are:
1. Volk Racing TE37 17x7.5 +40 repainted in magnesium blue (I dunno, I think I might have kept this set if I had it done in black)
2. Volk Racing RE30 16x7 +42 in original bronze color (these only lasted a week coz someone made me an offer I couldn't refuse)
2. Volk Racing SE37K 17x7 +40 repainted in diamond black
3. BBS RG-F 16x7 +35 in Japan-only gold (current wheels which most of my friends don't like )

Track that friend down and tell him I'll pay monies for his wheels!!!

I used the TE37s for only a month then sold it. It took me a couple of months to get one from Japan but when I finally had them I thought they didn't really fit in. I guess things would've been different if I had them painted black or gunmetal
