I run H Stock so I'll have to live with the 4x4 gap. DWC- I do not have the budget to turn my car into an STS contender, even locally, but I do now have the option of showing up and driving in STS with no tire changes. I am keeping the Xlites w/S03s as rain tires for the season, and looking for lighter tires for this setup.

Hey FWD-MX5,
I love your Volks. They look great and are about the lightest strong wheel available. The Azenis are a good looking tire also.
Question: Did you have to do anything different to mount the Volks, such as put on different bolts on your hub or something, and if so how did you do all that? I thought I read here that Volks need something like that. Thanks and good luck racing.

One of the first mods, and it is stock legal, was to replace the lug bolts with studs and regular lug nuts. Basically the stud threads in like the lug bolts but they have threads on the exposed end to mount your wheel. This has saved much time and frustration. They are also great since I run 5mm spacers on all four corners. Without the spacers the studs prevent center caps frm being placed on the wheels(X-Lites). I bought the studs from Alex and they are 12x1.5 Stud 58mm length. I use standard lug nuts on the Volks and all seems to be working fine. I like the grip and road manners of the Azeni, but they are a little loud. I am going to try the Kumho Ecsta MX next, or maybe Advan Neovas.

Hey FWD-MX5,
I can see by your pictures why you can use spacers, as the fender won't interfere with the extra width you add by moving your tire/wheel farther out to the outside edges. That should improve handling, quite a bit I would think. I saw a race last season from England where there were several older style Mini's racing against different cars. A Mini won and it was so neat watching as, if I recall, the Mini passed a Nissan or some such car on the last lap I think, to move from 2nd into 1st and win. The Mini passed in a curve, but get this, it was on the outside. That Mini was amazing, and it had really wide wheels! I mean they stuck out really far. Great to watch. I'll never forget that. That car stuck like glue. Good luck with racing!
