Tire Rotation

I have the Coupe R58 with the factory runflats. What is the procedure for rotation. Front wheels straight to back and cross the rear to front? or Cross front to rear and rear straight to front.

check your sidewalls to see if your tires are marked for a rotation direction .... if so, side to side rotation is not possible, only front to rear. At one time side swapping on any radial was not recommended and I come from that school - altho my current tires ARE directional so it would be a no-no anyway.

The whole question of rotation on MINI is a long debate going back to 2002 models. Even MINI themselves have flip flopped - some years the manual says don't do it, other years they say do it.

I do it, have a jack & stands a compressor and impact wrench and a couple of tor' wrenches so it is easy-peasy. Small effort to extend tire life IMO.

Standard process for FWD is front to rear, cross rear to front. That being said, as Cap_BJ said, check the sidewall to make sure it's not a directional tire.

Several threads out there for this. I just do front to back for rotations every 5000km irrespective if they are directional or not. With the MINI jack you can raise the whole side of the car using the front jack point if you want.

Thanks for the responses. I haven't had a front wheel drive car since I was in High School many years ago...Non directional tire so it is the cross rear, front to back thanks guys.
