oh man, they are nice! but I have never had a tire like this before.
Good grip and its only about 50 outside right now, so they will be even better this summer.
here is a pic last night of them with the wheels. not that you can see much on the tires
I got the wheels and tires though my local Tire Discounters. (its a kinda local store chain)

Well, I finally received the wheels and tires yesterday. After my 2 week-long saga (I plan on posting the whole experience...because that is what I HAVE to call it), I had everything mounted and I can already tell the difference. The tires seem great, but it is drizzling here today. So, I will give a fill review after I drive on some nice dry pavement. I will also take pics when it stops raining too.

When I replaced the 16" R84 with the 18" wheels and the new Proxes 4, I was expecting the ride to be stiff. To my surprise, that's not the case at all. They not only provide better grip than the factory run flats, they also ride quite comfortably w/o additional road noise that might be expected from low-profile tires. So far, I'm very satisfied. I have to wait and see how they perform in the rain.

>>they are a bit different in the rain thats for sure. 4 wheel slides are quite fun when its wet, oh and easy to do!
I'm also interested in what people think about this tire. The Proxes 4's are supposed to be Ultra-High performance All-Season tires, I believe. Yet, it doesn't sound like they perform that way in the wet. My other option is the Yoko AVS ES-100, which, I know is not all-season. I guess I'm looking for a high performance dry tire that also doesn't lose it in the rain. Any other thoughts?

Well, after a couple weeks in both dry and wet surfaces, I can say that the tire seems to be the best of both worlds. They stick very well on the dry and do good in the rain too. Only time I noticed some slippage was from at a light starting in 1st gear. It could have been oily on the road as well.
I would say go for the Proxes 4. I have no regrets.

To me it seems that all season tires do not perform very well in the rain or in dry conditions either. They are a compromise so that they can not do too badly in the snow while not specifically being a snow tire. The summer high performance tires such as the Bridgestone S03, Yokohama AVS ES100, Goodyear Eagles, perform very well in the dry and also in the wet, but not that good in the snow (but some not too bad either).
A lot of car manufacturers put all seasons on their cars, and they do not handle that well and they have poor grip in the rain so they lock up and slide easily. You have to be careful with them in the rain. I'm talking generalities here, and I'm sure that some are better than others.

After driving on the Toyo Proxes 4 for a few days, I noticed a couple of things.
1. They really stick. I tried to spin the wheel from rest with the traction off, but unable to accomplish, unlike before with the factory runflats.
2. Excellent grip on a hard cornering. I don't know if 18" wheel plays a factor, but now I can carve the twisties with even more confidence. This weekend, I'll be adding a rear sway bar to further improve the cornering capability.
