Since I ordered my MCS back in October 03, I have been looking for the perfect set of wheels for my car. After much thought and research, I decided to go with a set of Flik Wasp-A's from Edge Racing. I wanted a wheel with a BBS mesh look, a polished lip, and an anthracite finish. These wheels are exactly what I was looking for. They are not the lightest wheels on the market, but the are far from the heaviest. And the price could not be beat.

So, I decided to order the wheel and tire package. I decided on the 17s wrapped in Falken 512s. I knew they were not the best tire out. But, again, for the price, it could not be beat and I would just replace them with a better tire once they were worn. This was the first set of wheels that I had bought brand new and it took a lot to go ahead with the order.

So, I called Edge Racing and placed the order. I specificly asked if the wheels and tires were in stock. The answer was yes. I knew to ask this because this time of year most people are buying their new wheels. So, it was a Friday when I ordered and I was told that they would ship out on Monday, Tuesday the latest. That was acceptable to me.

So Monday comes and my card is charged in the morning. I think to myself "Great, they must be shipping out today. I can't wait to get that tracking number and watch their progress." It reminded of my waiting and tracking of my MCS just 3 months ago (although certainly not on the same scale.)

Well, Monday comes and goes and although disappointed, I realize they said that Tuesday was a possibility. Well, when the end of Tuesday's business day was coming to a close and I had no tracking number, I decide to call. They sales rep told me that the warehouse was backed up a bit because of the influx of orders and that they would ship out on Wednesday. OK. I am a reasonable and understanding guy. No sweat.

Wednesday comes and is almost gone with, again, not tracking number. I call again and get the same excuse. I understand that it COULD be possible. But, I started to feel like I was getting the runaround.

Thursday is now here, it is mid afternoon, and still no word from them. So, I call again. I got the same excuse...AGAIN! Now, this was unacceptable to me. They had charged my card on Monday morning, and it was now Thursday afternoon with the product not even shipped yet. I get transfered to the sales manager because no one could answer my questions as to why they had not shipped yet. The manager finally reveals the answer to me. They were having a hard time getting the Falken tires from the distributor. That is great, but I was told they were in stock. So, I ask what can be done because this is completely unacceptable. At this point, I was ready to just cancel my order because I was being jerked around. He tells me that I could either wait for the weekly big shipment to come in on Friday (a week after I ordered) or I could go with an upgraded tire. So, I say "this upgrade is free, RIGHT?" After a second or 2 pause, he agrees. So, instead of the 512s, I would now be receiving Toyo Proxes 4 for the same price. He said he should be able to get them out that night, but possibly Friday.

Friday the wheels ship via UPS ground from Florida to NJ.

Fast forward now to Wednesday. The wheels arrive (nicely packaged might I add. They showed up in individual boxes with foam and cardboard inserts inside to make sure of a snug fit and safety of the wheels. I take the wheels out and they are as nice as I had hoped. The wheels were in perfect condition with no nicks or dings from shipping. I also notice weights inside to wheel; telling me that the tires had been balanced during mounting.

So, wednesday night, I have the wheels mounted. They asked if I wanted to have them balanced also, but I said no. They should already be balanced. The first time I saw my car, I could not believe how good they looked. It was the exact look I wanted and I could not be happier...until... I get on the local highway to get home. Once I hit the magic number of 54mph I felt the dreaded steering wheel shake. The wheels were OFFBALANCE! By this time, I am furious. I had nothing but aggrivation for almost 2 weeks and I thought that once I had the wheels on the car, my troubles would be over. Wrong. Someone was playing a cruel joke on me and decided to drag out my frustration.

Thursay morning, I get up early to have the tires balanced before work. I get to the tire shop and they jack up the car and take off the wheels. About 5 minutes later, the service guy comes in and says he wants to show me something. The wheel they were balancing originally had 3/4 weight on it. They took it off to start from scratch...and the wheel was perfectly balanced without the weight. So, WHY WERE THE WEIGHTS ON THERE??? Well, all 4 wheels were very unbalanced and fixed 20 minutes later.

Well, I am finally happy. The wheels are solid, look great, and function well to boot. The tires that were upgraded also have handled great the first day.

My final thoughts are as follows: Flik wheels seem very good thus far. Strong build with great quality. Edge Racing has great prices, but with those prices comes the price of aggrivation. Now, it could have just been my experience. I am not trying to knock them or steer other people away. I am just telling what happened with me.

I will have pics posted in here tomorrow. It was raining today and could not take them

****Cliff's Notes******
I ordered wheels from Edge Racing and everything that could have gone wrong did.

By the way, this is what the wheel looks like for those who have not seen them.

And that is why I buy my wheels and tires locally!

Sorry you had such a hassle getting those sweet wheels.

Definitely ALWAYS have them balanced every time you put new tires on. Even if the wheels themselves are perfect, the wheel and tire combo almost always needs balancing. . . .

well....it could have been worse. There are flik wheels that I want to buy from edge, but i hear it's on backorder for the next 10 years. ok...well, not that long, but I'll have to wait a while. So at least you got what you wanted, and it's not like you needed to return the wheels. Regardless, it sucks to read about what you went through.

btw, those are NICE wheels!

Sorry to hear about your experience. I had the exact opposite experience ordering through Edge Racing. I ordered a set of Pro Race 1's that needed to be special ordered from the factory because I wanted Anthracite. I was told that my card would be charged on the day they ship out, and everything went smoothly. I ended up getting the Falken's and love them. Overall very happy with Edge Racing, and my new wheels

After reading this, my heart sank. I ordered a set of the Blast C rims from EdgeRacing just yesterday. They said the rims are on backorder and won't be in until mid-April. That was fine, since I can't seem to find black rims anywhere else for a decent price.

Hopefully, my experience will be like supersulli.

Slapey, I did ask when I ordered them about balancing and they said if the wheels were out of balance, they would pay for a local shop to balance them.

Looks like I'll be keeping an eye on my credit card statement for the next month....

Ok, I just don't want you guys to get the wrong idea. I don't want to seem like the person who comes on here and bashes vendors just because it seems like the hot thing to do on the internet.

I want to point out that they did take care of the problem with tire availability, and upgraded me to compensate for the aggrivation. That was a very standup thing to do and they really didn't have to do it. I know that there are many people that order from Edge Racing. And I am sure that they have return customers as well. I would not say that I wouldn't order from them again. In the end, everything worked out just fine. I didn't have damaged goods or anything like that...and their product seems to be of the finest quality.

Basically I just wrote the above as more of a therapy for myself than to bash ER. I would just make sure to look out for problems if I was to ever order from them again.

Thanks for listening...
