Looking for smoother ride then my runflats. Also looking for a tire that tracks straight on the freeways. I will give up a little handling for a smoother ride and would like to keep the 205/45/17. Any other tires out there besides the conti? thanks
Since you are in Cali I would go for the DW. Unless you drive in the occasional snow then I would get the DWS like I have on my MINI because I live in PA. These are awesome tire.
I have the DWS, its a great all-around tire, low noise... however, would not be first choice if the car was being tracked at all. Definitely a daily driver tire.

Was tie tire a lot smoother then the runflats? Not going to track but would like to take a sharp corner once and a while.

My only experience with the factory run-flats (all-seasons) was during my test drives on new MINI's while shopping around. I ended up buying a used S and the DWS were basically brand new on the car. I will say that so far I have been driving in 20-50 degree weather, and the tires handle on the pavement as well as the Sumitomo HTR+ tires I had on my 300whp daily driver WRX a few years back. For a small car with stiff sport suspension and 17" wheels, I would put the DWS is the "smooth" ride category, and they so far have held their own handling spirited around town cornering.

The conti tires are good options if you're looking for more comfort. We have DW on one and DWS on the other. The DWS are very quiet and comfortable but not the most grippy tire. The DW are not far behind in comfort, but are considerably higher performance.
We have the DWS because it occasionally gets cold around here, like the last couple of weeks. Conti don't recommend using DW tires in temperatures less than 45F. They're also our touring tire and we may get up to the mountains and encounter snow.
FWIW....the DWS has a far better tread wear rating than the DW as would be expected for a summer performance tire. If you aren't a hardcore performance guy go with the DWS in my opinion
The DWS tires come with a 50,000 mile warranty, but the way we drive it looks like we'll only get 27,000 out of them. Then we'll get to try to collect on the warranty.
On the other hand the DW tires look like they'll last 18,000 miles.

This is an all season, so in Cali it is not needed. He can find a different summer tire with a higher treadware rating. This is why I told him to call Alex and let a true tire expert help him chose the right tire. Just my opinion.
hello! i have had both. dws very smooth, quiet and handles quite well. if push hard they will chunk off a bit on the shoulders. dw a little louder, more grip and wears very well when pushed.
the dws came with the vehicle when i purchased and will be changing out soon. i am in texas do not need an all season. that is what my truck is for!
so i bought some conti dws for my 09 R57... does anyone notice any vibration, or shake with any tire?? this happens around 63 - 70mph... and not constant... the tire installer says that the mini just does that... thoughts? i dont remember with the old tires...

That is total BS. Take it back and have them rebalance them and ask they do it in front of you.
hm.. I have the DWS's on my car (pretty much brand new, a tick under 1k on them so far) and I haven't had that problem. I'd have them check it again? Did you get an alignment done when they installed the new tires? That could be the issue.
Thanks for replying guys... yes, they put the tires on with an alignment. I am taking it back to have them redo... thought i would give them a try as they were one of the only "national" companies to replace a RF tire with a nonrf.
