What is too far out?
Also what kind or width are you trying to run? A 9" wide wheel at et30 pokes the same as a 7 with et5. The 7 has a lower offset but you might not want such a skinny wheel sticking so far out.
You should look here, might give you some ideas: https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...de-wheels.html

I used the H&R springs since they gave me the 1.4" drop. NM springs are currently designed to give a 1.2" drop. Either way, there is no need for camber plates. I would recommend replacing the lower control arms when you lower the car. Sometime soon, I will be ordering a set of NM springs for my wife's 2010 MCS. I just want to close the wheelwell/tire gap a little bit. You cannot go wrong with NM. Good people and good stuff.

I cannot understand the fascination with a low offset. Let me ask you this, are you just wanting a big lip on the wheel and slamming the car to the ground, or do you want an appropriate wheel/tire combo (w/ proper offset) so the car will still handle like a MINI should? The reason I ask is that I abhor a MINI that is slammed with wheels that are too wide for the tires and camber is way out of spec. You can get a nice dropped (not slammed) look on a MINI with proper camber adjustment and still have nice wheels (w/ +40-+45 offset and 7.5"-8" wheel width) and properly sized tires. If you look at the stance of my car that I posted above, where are you headed with yours in comparison?

Would it also be "proper" for the OP to put many carbon fiber parts on his car that provide no weight or structural advantage? Please tell us more about what you think he should do with his car.
The OP has already stated pretty clearly what he wants. Wide wheels with low offset. I have not given a yes or no answer to that question because really its not that straight forward. There are many factors and a lot of information that would go into a well thought out decision to run 17x9 et22's. Much of it is discussed in the thread I posted.
I would never put 9" wide et22 wheels on my car but I'm certainly not going to try to tell him what to do with his.

I am posting this for comparison reasons.
These are NM Engineering RSe05 wheels (17"x7.5", +45 offset) with 215/45-17 BFGoodrich g-Force Comp2 tires. Drop is 1.4". Camber is about -1. You will also notice that a BBK is installed. There ar no spacers used with this setup.

Bear in mind, these wheels were engineered just for the MINI. One thing they did was provide more than ample room for a BBK.
