You can find a set of R81 wheels used for $200 or less if you search Ebay, craigslist or MINI club sites.
Your example pic came from-
http://forums.pnwfahren.com/showthre...aka-Imola)-200
A bent rim might leak air as mentioned or cause vibration from being out of round. You can bend the wheel back and use weights to correct it's balance but pay less.
It will fit your Cooper S (assuming standard MCS brakes for 2004).
For tires try-
185/60-15
195/60-15
205/55-15
All are OK to fit for a MINI and the larger sizes have more tire selection. No need to keep the stock 175/65-15 size. I personally use 195/60-15 and Bridgestone RE960AS for daily driving.

Previous owner was using them on a Corolla, 1998ish body style. I'll take a look at the wheel and let you guys know. Thanks for that.
Edit: Just looked and didn't see anything on the wheel that would look like it had a ring. Just all a solid piece.

I'm thinking the previous owner did something to the car hubs to fit his wheels on there. Took out a tape measure and the hub and aftermarket wheel hub sizes were 3+ inches.
Is it possible there is just something bolted onto the factory hub and underneath that is the factory hub size? Or is it possible he changed the entire hub it's self?

Not likely that anything is bolted on the MINI hub. Possible that a hubcentric ring is stuck on the hub? Pics of the hub? Did you try more than one wheel? I've never heard of a MINI wheel not fitting a MINI hub. There are many case of wheels 'freezing' on the hub from corrosion - did you try some wheel grease to lube it?

I don't think I seen a ring on the vehicle hub. Nope, only 1. Didn't bother with more since one wouldn't work. No, seemed like it was just a regular hub that was too big. :\ Car is put away and can't get to it. This car is too much of a pain in the *** to deal with any longer.
I think previous owner changed the entire hub to fit his aftermarket wheels.
I just searched and found this off a BMW. This is exactly what the hub on the Mini looks like, but with a 3+ inch hub/bore diameter. So I don't see a ring stuck on the Mini if this is what it looks like.

NO OEM rim will fit...MINI's use a different hub/bolt design..

Sounds weird. Never heard of someone swapping hubs for a different size. You might be able to the OEM wheel hub bored out, but...

all rims in that style seem to have the same 4 bolt center?!
Are you sure your picture is right?!
