OK, before everyone jumps in here, I need to explain what my conditions are. First, I will not be lowering the car any, as I live in Iowa and our roads suck and I don't wish to play MINI plow next winter.

Second, I probably will never see an Autocross in this car as I work weekends.

Also, the car will be Indi Blue with Wht top. What colors will look the best?

My plan is within 5 min of arrving home with my new MCS it will be in the air getting new shoes and some go fast goodies. Since it will be late summer before I see it, this gives me some time to get the wheels I want. So, I welcome any and all opinions! Indi blue cars especially welcome!

Thanks!

Travis

You should do a search and settle on some wheels that YOU like. This post is purely subjective, everybody has different tastes and needs, what someone else thinks is the best won't necessarily be what will satisfy you.

I would suggest 18's for looks

but as far as everyday driveability, i would go with 17's with nice sized rubber.

On a white top i like to see multispoked rims

and like ZAMIRZ said, it's your car you should make the decision.

Ok, I guess I didn't read my post before hitting post. I confused myself! It isn't the design so much I am looking at as much as the actual wheel size. I have been following some of the threads and was just looking for some input from people that have done the size up and size down thing. I'll worry about the design later. Although, pics are always good to get a general idea of some designs.

i live in an area in ny that currently has very bad roads... random giant potholes of doom included... i currently have 17" s lites with super stiff runflats... making the ride altogether unpleasant for the most part. i would think you should go with 16's, which is what i'm looking at now. they'll be lighter and provide a more comfortable ride. i'm sure you can find some cool wheels in 16's. of course, that's just my two cents.

I would suggest for bad roads you use 16x7 rims with 205/50-16 tires non runflat.
The runflats are about the worst riding for bad roads and you transmit the jarring ride to your rims and risk damage.
If you want to keep your 17x7 S-lytes then consider 215/45-17 tires in non runflats. But you still have to dodge the bad potholes and be careful but the ride will be smoother and the non runflats will protect your rims a little more.

The advantage of the 16" rims is that you can go with a 50 series tire that will perform OK cost less in 16" sizes and ride smoother but still have some performance.

At tire rack they have Kosei K1 in white 16x6.5 with 43mm offset and 15 pounds per rim 205/50-16 tires and $159 each

If you don't like white rims then try these in 16 or 17" 4x100 bolt pattern

Here are some sample tires in 205/50-16

Good ones might be Kumho Ecsta Supra 712 for $76 ,Yokohama ES100 for $84 each, or Toyo Proxes T1S for $104 each

If you are not going to lower the car then 18"s would look funny on the mini IMO. 17" or 16" would look good on a stock mini.
