Does 85,946 miles on set of tires sound about right?

I recently traded in my 03 MINI and the tires that were on there only lasted 85,946 miles. They were due to be rotated one more time but I said let the dealer take care of that for not offering me more money. The tires were Goodyear Assurance M/S P195/60R15 87H. I still think I could have gotten another 10,000 miles out of those tires.

I must be hard on tires. That's twice the mileage I've ever gotten out of a set of tires.

That's crazy. I would have imagined they were bad due to age at that point.

The first set only lasted until 48,500 miles.

They were only about four years old at the time.

I think you need to go to a driving school, or trade your Mini for a Prius

Good work on those Goodyears.

There are three Assurance tires in that size and speed rating:
GY Assurance ComforTred Touring (Grand Touring all season tire)
$107 each 740 treadwear
Tirerack test result-
http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tests/...y.jsp?ttid=138
Decent tire, better in dry than in wet.

GY Assurance Fuel Max (Passenger All Season tire)
$84 each, 580 treadwear (my guess- this is your tire)
Tirerack test result-
http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tests/...y.jsp?ttid=155
A good ecotire, not very good on handling though esp in wet.

GY Assurance TripleTred All Season (Passenger All Season tire)
$119 each, 740 treadwear

There are also many other tires that could last as long if driven well-

My S-Drives are down to the wear bars in ~30,000KM... and I had some snows on for some of that time, too. Too many hard corners and hard launches, I guess... I love love to make 'em sing!

Congrats!! Good work!
To have fun in a MINI you don't have to drive like a JERK!! And I bet you prove that!!
Then again...those LONG STRAIGHT ROADS in KS might have helped!!

Wow - that's a lot of miles! My wife's Toyota Paseo got 80,000 miles on her fronts and 88,000 miles on the rears, but she drove a mile to the freeway and the 55 miles each way to work and back for five years. The tire guys were really impressed she got that many miles out of the original tires.
