Question about Painting Hub/Rotor

Hey, I just purchased an 05MCSC and I believe it has R98 "webspoke". I can see the wheel hub and rotor and they are pretty rusty looking. What type of paint can I paint the hub with? Do I need to sand off the rusty part (dumb question)? The pads on the front look new.. They have worn a pattern on the rotor but it is really small like half the width of the break pad. I think the front pads and rotors are new. Should I try to "wear them in" or what ever that is called where you stop and start quickly five or six times? Any help would be great! Thanks all! Here's a pic.. We have little kiddos so I think we're going with the name Cookie Monster

In general rotors. Are made of iron and will rust on the surface easily.

My rotor discs rust right after any rain or when I wash my mini.

Other than for looks you don't need to do anything. The rust will come off the disc next time you drive.

For the rotor hub it is usually painted if you get the eom mini ones while some aftermarket ones will rust more easily. Again it is cosmetic. If you have to paint them, use a heat resistant paint made for engines or brake calipers after you sand off the rust.

It's not going to harm your brakes to have some rust.

Hune, Thanks for the reply. I think I'll try to paint the hubs when time allows!

I've painted my brake hubs with black Hammerite (it binds to the rust) and looks much better. I'll see how they look after a track day, but it's easy enough to redo it...
