The garderners did a nice job on the hedge and the ivy but as I was pulling out of my garage I ran over a board with some nails in it. I could hear air coming out of the rt. front tire and found a puncture or two in the side wall.

This sucks but I'm pretty sure I did not damage the actual MINI in anyway.

I should probably go read the owners manual right now but maybe you guys can tell me. can I drive to the tire shop or do I need to go to the dealership or do I need to be towed or what?

I'll probably just buy a replacement run-flat since they are still new (7000mi.)

if you still have the runflats, you can drive on them for 50 miles or so untill you needed to get them replaced. if you arent driving on runflats and have an MCS w/o a spare, get it towed. but i would replace it asap.

I do have runflats.

Can I let the car sit till sunday or monday and then drive 50 miles? I understand that you can continue to drive for 50 miles but i ran over a nail in my driveway.

Thanks

i dont see why not...those tires have a really stiff sidewall so the integrity of the tire wont be compromised even though there is no air in the tire.

On Monday I will slowly drive it to a tire shop and get a new runflat. i hope I can find another dunlap sr sport 5000 or whatever the other ones are.

What if I got a 3000 instead of a 5000 would that be ok or better or what?

Just wondering.

most places do not keep the runflats in stock...so you might want to
check before you go.

Also, there are people selling used tires in the market place forum, so you
might want to consider getting a used one too.

Called around this morning and now I'm waiting on some call backs. Nobody seemed to stock Dunlop runflats. I was told that it is important to keep the tires the same so I will most likely have to special order the tire so looks like it is now a waiting game.

bummer.

You should check the market place to see if someone can sell you a used one.

Otherwise, try tirerack.com. They have good inventory all the time.

i sent a pm to ZAMIREZ about his tires but did not hear back and my tire shop said they will order me a tire from back east but it will take awhile to get here so I must drive my wifes civic for awhile. I may attempt to ride my bike to work sometime this week, which would be great.

No TireRack in Santa Barbara.

Thanks for the tips.

My tires come next day via UPS from tirerack Indiana...
its not a bad choice. Take your car to work, have it delivered
to work, take a quick lunch break to go to the tire shop...30min later,
done.

Can't get any cheaper and easier then that.

>>why run flats at all

Because I only damaged one tire and do not want to replace the other 3 that are only 7000 miles old. If I am going to replace anything on my MINI i am going to wait until the original equip is in need of replacement.

I don't believe it is recommended to run three runflats and one non-runflat.

I called a local tire shop monday morning and they had to order one, said it will take a couple of days and run just under $200 installed. Hopefully less.

I will give TireRack a try next time around.

What a hassle.

did you consider using non runflats?

I am using non-runflats on my summer set of wheels.

Hope your car's squared away by week's end.

ummm, make sure they ordered the runflats, 200 is low for runflats not coming from tirerack, the shop I went to priced me around that for a new non runflat dunlop SP9000 (or whatever it was), runflat was a hundred more, I just got 4 brandie new non runflats (toyo proxes4) for 85 apiece, nice tire.
