Installing steel braided lines

Going to install steel braided brake lines for the first time on my 2007 MCS and was wondering if I should use Teflon tape on the threads when installing.

Thanks for you help.

unless for some reason the manufacturers directions indicate you not to, i definitely would.

you need some sort of seal between mating surfaces of the threads, otherwise you are just asking for leaks.

That's what I thought, but I haven't seen it mentioned in any of the threads I've read.

Your brake lines seal at the flare not on the threads. You do not want to use any sealant sealant on brake line fittings.

Never use thread sealants on brake lines.

As noted the flair fittings will seal just fine.

As stated no need for thread sealant. I would recommend using flare nut wrenches. You will be able to loosen and tighten the flare nut properly without rounding the nut.

Hey there, quick question. What brake lines are you using? I tried to do a little digging and wasn't able to find anything specific in my initial search. Any recommendations on top performing brands?

I bought mine from Detroit Tuned. Perfect fit no issues with them.

anyone had any experience with NM Engineering? It seems as if their stuff tends to be on the expensive side, but if its worth it, then I don't see why people wouldn't spend the money. Is there a huge difference between a $100 kit and a $200 kit, what would justify it being twice as much?

FYI we have our famous WMW Brake lines on sale this week. These are the same lines that are mandatory on ALL B spec MINI race cars.
