Changing tires or wheels (HELP)
Hello All, I am not a car person so please help!!!
I recently bought a used 2012 Countryman (base model) with
205/55/17 Run flat tires on them.
I am having a devil of a time finding these tires for a good price? Can anyone give me some advice?
Also is it out of the question to down size the wheel/tire size So that I can easly find the tire? The tires it takes is a 17 and it seems that is a rare tire size! Is it possible to make it in to a 16 or something....
PLEASE HELP....

Ryan,
Hopefully someone with 17s will post with advice on different sizes, but you should be able to put something like a 205/45 or 205/50 on a 17-inch rim and have much more in the way of choices. You can also find many more tires if you opt for non-runflat.
If you do switch to 16-inch, keep in mind you will have to spring for new rims to do that.

I recommend you contact a sales member at Tire Rack and have them walk you through their offerings and your options.
You don't HAVE to run RFTs but without a spare, you be able to get yourself to a safe location without assistance. Then you could call for help.
At the worst, without RFTs, you wait for roadside assistance to arrive and bail you out. Or, you can invest in a and a .
I have the items linked but my winter tires are 205/45-17 Blizzak LM60 RFTs.

a search on tirerack for 205/55R17 returns 13 tires
a search for 205/60R16 returns 75 tires
205/60R16 and 205/55R17 both have the same OD of 25.9"
you can get mini OEM alloy wheels as used in europe from ECS Tuning
EDIT: these wheels will accept the oem mini TPMS sensors and Alex at tirerack has great pricing on them
http://www.ecstuning.com/Mini-2011-C...nch/ES2159816/
i bought a set myself for my winter snow tires
my winter tires are oversized at 205/70R16, 27.3" OD, but clear with no rubbing
hope this helps
