I ran 215's on my R56. There was 1/2" clearance from the suspension ...There were some very minor scrapes from snow buildup in winter. Those 215's really stick!
Just renewing this thread to ask a question. I know it's early to be thinking of winter wheels and tires, but I have a situation that requires some thinking. I can get a set of 4 18" OEM MINI wheels and Pilot SS tires at a reasonable price. If I were to put these on my MCS, then I would have the 17" Tentacle silver wheels available for winter wheels. My questions are: 1. is 17" too large for winter, I was thinking originally of going 16" to get a narrower profile for snow; and 2. are the 17" Tentacle wheels too "fancy" for winters, ie too tough to clean, and hard to keep looking decent (corrosion, salt, deicer chems, etc).
My wheel choice was made a month or so ago when I took delivery of these!
Speedline Marmora
5x112 - 18x8 - ET45
They will poke 21.7mm more than stock and sit 3.7mm closer to the strut.
Do you have these mounted up yet with the tires? Would like to see pictures if possible. I really want to know if it's possible to run a 18x8 with et45? I'm sure there will be a little poke but after lowering that can be corrected with some negative camber.
Mmmm, I dropped by the dealers and find out the 18" 506 wheels have Dunlop Sport Max (something), not Michelin Pilot SSs. Not sure I care for the Dunlops. Anyone with experience with this Dunlop summer tire?
I don't know that has been discovered yet. I'm currently planning to run 17x7.5 ET 38 with a 215/45/17 which I expect may rub without some negative camber which I'd do anyway
I'm new to rims and fitment but I've been doing my homework. I'd love a pair of bbs rs's or esm 002r's but the offset seems to be around 20 which is annoying! Clearly these won't fit... Is there anything I can do to counter act that or am I stuck looking for different rims? I don't want to hinder the performance of the car or prematurely wear out my suspension (like I heard happens to fwd cars with little positive offset).
And for your ET 38, I know this sounds a bit cheesy but tirerack suggested between the range of 38 and 50. So hopefully you should be good!
I completely agree, which is why I stumbled upon the esm brand! They are ideal and say that they'll drill for any PCD which is nice! My only concern about them is the offset...
Do you happen to know what our cb is? I think I read it to be 66 or 67?
I am genuinely worried that mine will rub once lowered.
I am at 18x8 ET45 currently and I know I will need 10mm spacers to clear the struts - so I will be running a final ET of 35 (potentially 33 if I need 12mm spacers to clear)
There really doest seem to be much clearance for the rim / tyre inside the arches once its going to be lowered…..
