2X Pilot Sports

2X Pilot Sports
I had 2 Michelin Pilot Sport 3's, put on the front of my 2008 JCW MINI (yes it is a 2008 JCW) the other week. I am still running the Dunlop Run Flats in the rear, and other than a bit more noisy in the rear, there are no handling issues. I do plan on upgrading the rears in a few months time, when finances allow.
Seems that on this side of the world, tyres are twice as expensive than they are in the U.S., so could not afford all 4 tyres. It is a shame that Tire Rack no longer ships to Australia, as I also want 4x4 tyres for my Defender.
The handling is much improved, and feels much more stable, and planted in the wet corners of my daily commute. I have the pleasure of a 78k drive each way, and 30k of it is up or down a twisty mountain road.
Cheers,
Ken

Be very careful. By all reports non-runflats mixed with runflats is a potentially unstable combination.

Ken,
Search for this topic and you won't find any disagreement.
Drive very carefully and be aware that no one recommends mixing runflats with non runflats for use on public roads.
It's not that you can tell right away that something is wrong, it's that you can't tell what is wrong until you loose control and by then it is too late.
If you do get in an accident and the insurance investigator sees your tires, you won't have any defense as you would be driving an unsafe car.
If anyone else drives your car it would be dangerous.
Think of it this way, would you like other drivers to mix tires and use public roads? Bad enough that some are driving on worn out tires.
Replace the runflats as soon as you can, meanwhile be extra cautious for your own safety.
