ABS Wheel Speed Sensors (places to buy)

Hey guys,

I got the light trifecta the other day and researched sites to buy from ..

I got a few different prices from different suppliers ranging from $20 to $77.

Has anyone had any good experience with the stuff from eBay? its by far the cheapest, but I know the reputation eBay has. I figured I can buy three of them before I paid for the price from Way.

Anyway, if anyone has had experience with that or know of a place that has them for a good price please let me know.

Thanks.

Your local auto parts store (Advance Auto parts...autozone...napa...oreily... etc) didnt have them? They might not have them in stock but they may at least carry them.

They did at $55.

Wondering if anyone was successful with the $20 ones on eBay.

We have them here in multiple brand: 34526756384 front . 34526756385 rear.

We also have pics showing you the location and some good info on install. What to look out for.

Its one thing doing it right so you don't damage the head of a new one.

Thanks

So as not to totally hijack this tread , I had the trifecta last year. Bought a sensor [BECK/ARNLEY 0844073 (084-4073) ABS Wheel Speed Sensor $55.99+$2.64 shipping = $58.63]. My husband installed it.

Now for the hijack... Several weeks ago, the trifecta appeared again. Took it to a local shop this evening and he read the code with a SnapOn diagnostic tool and we determined it was the same left front sensor that was just replaced. When my husband installed the new one, he said the wire seemed to be a bit shorter than the OEM part causing a rather severe turn (near the blue end), so he thinks maybe one of the wires pulled loose/broke (as he said the connectors fit *way* too tightly to have just pulled out).

Anyway, my real question for y'all is how to tell which wheel has the bum sensor. I asked a friend who has the expensive software to read the code the first time, but my shop cost me $60 tonight just to read the code and check the sensor connection right behind the wheel (but not the blue end). I'm thinking I need my own reader device. (1) How are y'all determining the which wheel has the problem and (2) have any of you used the iCarsoft i910 reader?

Thanks for any suggestions.

Some of the aftermarket 3rd party brands don't have the correct length. We have ones above that fit correctly. Also it has to be installed correctly, some people damage them on install due to the head of the sensor getting damaged in the carrier or on the wheel bearing hub, check the link above. For checking the sensor , the dealership can read which corner with the full diagnostics. Dont know about the interface software from other readers , but most don't read the full diagnostics, like ABS and PDC sensor. For just a ABS sensor I would not get into expensive readers, a simple scanner with work to read OBD II codes, as most if not all don't read ABS. You can replace the front corners one at a time or have the dealership scan it.

Thanks and good luck.

I tried two off eBay early in the year and neither worked. I feel lucky as I succeded in sending them back and getting my money back. A lot of eBay vendors seem to ship directly from Asia now which makes returns iffy at best. Wish those things worked...

The genuine Mini sensor can be found online for around $105. I ended up buying the Siemens/VDO version which was around $70.

In terms of reading codes - I use software (and the proprietary obdii connector) from Autoenguinity. It is a small company and has been very responsive when I needed support. I have the BMW add on package (includes Mini's) as well as the base software. It can read and graph individual sensors and show and clear error codes. It can clear engine adaptations.

It -can not- modify the engine coding like the BMW dealer software can.

It is written for Windows, but I use it on a Mac running under Parallels.

Had no problems with the ones we have linked above. Most of the time it peopel damaging the new ones on install in the rusted / corroded insertion hole as they tend to stick and then you pull it out and it cracks,. So make sure the hole is clean , hit it with sand paper rolled as a tube or if you have a dermal with a tool for the coiled sandpaper attachment , it works great. .
