misc questions............

Does anyone have any experience with Kumho ecsta ASX tires? I'm in the process of dumping my run flats, and I'm finding it a tad bit overwhelming trying to put it all together. Zane Grey IS my daily drive (66 miles round trip) in new england (MA.), and I'm really not into running 2 sets of wheels/tires.The car came with dunlop s5000 run flats (195-55-16), and I'm looking for ultra high performance all seasons in 205-50-16.Also, the dealer(MoP) sold me a donut which was originally for a cooper with 15's, and the SA told me I could use this without a problem with the 16's.Now I'm no rocket scientist, but I'm having a hard time swallowing this.Comments soon please, my inspection sticker runs out in 2 weeks.

The overall diameter of the tire/wheel assembly is close enough that you can use the spare. Despite the rim being one inch smaller, the tire sidewall is taller, thus making it close in size.

Kumho Ecsta ASX aren't one of the more common MINI tires but searching at tirerack.com for ultra high performance all season tires in 205/50-16 yields:

Kumho Ecsta ASX 420 wear AA A 87 load W speed rated 24.1" outer diam, $86 each, perfect fit to 6.5" wide rim

Pirelli P Zero Nero M+S 400 wear AA A 87 load W speed rated 24.1" outer diam, $97 each

BF Goodrich Traction T/A 440 wear AA A 87 load V speed rated 24.1" outer diam, $94 each (this is a high perf all season)

Give alex@tirerack.com a call and ask him about how they compare. the P Zero Nero M+S and BFG Traction T/A get very high marks/reviews/ratings.

If I were choosing a tire in your situation for 16" rims I'd look first at the Pirelli P Zero Nero M+S. Excellent performance all season and close on wear rating.
