Tire pressure and tire light

My tire light came on today while taking a short drive... I recently put new wheels on my car and had my tires transfered. Could this be the reason the light came on? The last time I had my tires rotated the light came on within a couple hours because the factory forgot to reset it, so I had to do it myself. I have had my new wheels on for probably a good week and it just came on. Whats the best thing I can do in this situation... buy a tire pressur gauge thing and check the pressures myself, if so, what should they be at. Or did the light just come on because the computer realized they were never reset and now they need to be reset...

Anyone know how to reset it if that is the case? Its something like holding the button down then turning the car on and rolling or driving till the light goes off.

I have the stock run flats that come with the cooper s sport package.

tire pressure gauge is a must anyhow, so definitely get one.
reset is in the manual, I think it is just turn the key to pos2 and hold button 'til light (I forget which) flickers, or goes out.

Kyle,

Yes rotation can cause the light to go on, as will different pressures due to myriad causes. Resetting is very easy, read your manual for a step by step. It basically entails, putting the ingition key in position 2, holding down the reset button for about 10 seconds. Starting up and driving for a minute and voila, system reset.

You should have a decent pressure gauge. Buy one and keep it handy.

So you guys think it is from the swapping of the tires even though it has been about a week since they were put on? I'll buy a tire gauge to check and i will try and reset them also...

Thanks.

Going over uneven paving can cause the light to come on, ditto driving in wet conditions where you get a lot of wheel spin. The MINI system is not very advanced, and measures wheel rotation speed rather than actual tire pressure.
