Help with rota sizes needed

2011 cooper (non-s) r56 completely stock. Will be doing coilovers but don't want to tuck, just to top of tires.

I'm looking at Rota Grid in either:

16x7 et40
Or
16x8et20
Or
15x6.5et38
Or
15x7et38

I don't want any rubbing and don't want spacers.

If possible, my 1st choice would be 16x8et20 with 205/50 r16 or 215/45r16

I may be wrong but I think you will have to do some work to fit the ET20's. The ET38's should be plug and play.

16x8 extends wheel and tire inward and outward by 3/4". et 20 extends wheel and tire outward by 25mm (one inch). 205/50 or 215/45 tires will extend tires sidewalls inward and outward about 1/4" less whatever reduction in bulge there is due to the wider wheel. So your tires are going to poke out beyond your fenders by about 1-1/3"?

Compared to OEM 16" wheels and tires:

16x7 et40
Wheel will be 1.7 mm further from inner suspension, the outer rim will poke out 14.4 mm more.

16x8et20
Wheel will be 9 mm further from inner suspension, the outer rim will poke out 47.1 mm more.

15x6.5et38
Wheel will be 10 mm further from inner suspension, the outer rim will poke out 10 mm more.

15x7et38
Wheel will be 3.7 mm further from inner suspension, the outer rim will poke out 16.4 mm more.

If you do choose 215/45-16 your tire selection will be very limited, a few good Extreme Summer tires but they wear fast and aren't as comfortable for street use as well as they are loud.

In that size tire diameter will be smaller than OEM at 23.6" so a dropped suspension will be OK. That's quite a bit of poke with the 16x8" rim, but it will look more aggresive albeit with more weight.

2013 JCW using 17x7.5 et45 Rota RB with 235(yes)40/17 rubber. Lowered 2"on spring swap. No rubbing,no scraping. Looks BADASS. OOPS, where did my ugly wheel gap go ?
