Non-Run-Flat Road Kit - what is everyone running?
I've got an F56 that will soon be rolling on non-RFT summer tires, like my last two MINIs, and I've got the following bits on hand to deal with possible issues while motoring.
(with a set of pliers fitted inside the box)
MINI Jack
I'm hoping this setup should get me through most situations that an RFT tire would manage to survive (ie. most anything but a slash from large debris). Is this along the lines of what others are running? Weight and size were big factors in the setup I have, so my road kit is still probably under 10lbs. I'm curious what other people are bringing along, and if anyone else has taken it further or has good advise on what you've found handy to have on-hand.

https://www.griotsgarage.com/product...fType=&from=fn The bag also has enough room for an extra qt of oil, a shop rag or two and some quick cleaning/detailing supplies and a carefully packed jug of 'refreshment'.

Slime kit. My Clubman and Countryman I have put it under the rear area floor. In my new PHEV model I have no clue I think the area I have used maybe taken up with electric car stuff. I also don't know how much room under the power seats. I am sure I will find a spot. I have Falkins on now and they have been great.

I carry a MINI Mobility Kit, and a few plugs, as well as the 2 tools needed for cleaning the hole and placing the plugs. I may just add a small tube of rubber cement at some point. This should get me through all but a sidewall puncture, or a catastrophic tire failure. I also carry a AAA card, with unlimited mileage. Just in case.....

Word of warning with Slime kits as I used to carry one until I performed a rear seat delete and added a full size Enkie wheel/spare. ( not practical for most )
It may not be good to leave these kits in the MINI when temps drop to below freezing. It effected the contents of the Slime bottle I carried adversely, to point of not knowing whether or not it would work anymore. ( It was in my MINI for 5 yrs )
I tossed the whole thing in the trash, but maybe someone who has a kit can see if there are any warnings to that effect on the bottle or mfg directions.

I personally will never use fix a flat type stuff. I've seen what it does to rims. I'm not familiar with the slime stuff mentioned above so it may be better than the older products. My JCW has the full jack kit in the boot so I'm going to pick up a donut. I carry towing insurance so until then I'll just have it towed to the tire shop. Plus my mini is my "fun car" so I typically don't travel very far from home in it.

Going without? It's like going commando, at first it seems like a big deal but after a while it just seems natural.
On the other car, in 15 years and almost 300K miles I have never used the donut spare. On my MCS, after 5 years and almost 60K miles I finally had to get out the dynaplug kit and compressor. Only once in my life have I had a catastrophic problem, a 10mm allen wrench went all the way through the tire. No plug or slime kit was going to fix that. That's why I have the AAA card.

If I replace the runflats, or rather "when" I replace them, I will carry a spare wheel/tire on trips with the rear seats down ala GP style! Not a fan of donuts! For around town if a flat happens I will call my wife to come get me & I'll go get the spare at home! No way I'll call AAA even if I had it! :-)

May I ask where did you put the donut spare tire? I have a run flats too, no spare, no jack. Thanks

Sure -- Because I ordered the spare with the car, the steel wheel and the associated jack and tools came installed in the storage area beneath the rear hatch floor. The wheel bolts to a mounting point there, with the other items secured in a styrofoam tray that drops inside the wheel. I don't know whether the same mounting hardware is present if no spare was included with the vehicle -- I suspect others can answer definitively on that...
