Does 205/45 or 215/45 use the same tire pressure?

Yep, doesn't matter unless you're going for a specific response from
the tire.

Just use 33-34 for street use.

Hmmmm...

My MCS has 195/55x16 Dunlop 5000 run flats and the sticker on the door jamb say 30 psi front and rear with a normal load. With a maximum load, it bumps up to 33 psi.

Is the 33 psi recommendation based on the 17s?

We run 35 psi usually in our Euphori@s. They wore pretty evenly even though only 1 person normally rode in the car. The middle was a little more worn but nothing drastic enough to warrent running lower pressures. During normal street driving, running a little higher pressure helps gas mileage. When on the track, bring them down to 32-ish for better traction.

So...here's a question:

By what method do you ascertain the correct tire pressure for the tire/wheel combination, driving style and suspension setup?

As an old autocrosser from waaaay back, I am used to fine tuning tire pressure (and suspension settings, for that matter) with a pyrometer. By what other methods are people doing this? Certainly, tire pressure recommendations need to be made based on actual performance data...like cross-tread temperature readings or the like.

What are the data sources are behind the recommendations that are being given here? Inquiring minds want to know!

Thanks,

Theo

if you are looking for scientific data.. i dont think anyone can give accurate enough data to validate their claims.. for me... any tire pressure recommendations i make are from my own trail and error (and i stress that error alot!).. for me are as follows f/r
street (summer), h-sprt sway bar on softest: 36/36
street (summer), hsprt sway on middle: 38/36
autocross, hsport on soft: 38/40
autocross, hsport on middle: 37/38

winter: 34 all around... i might still hv to bump it up eventually when the weather drops below -10

Nothing is a better example of wear patterns than a good pyrometer's stats - it evaluates your alignment and driving style.

Helps to have a team of 2 for this drill, and drive and a temp taker.
