17"x8", +40 wheels. R53.

Alright... I've been reading forums for weeks now. But can't find a definitive answer. I'm building my R53 for hillclimb and time attack. I'm looking for lots of grip and was considering 17x8 +40 (or +35) wheels.
1st: Will they fit?, if so would +40 or +35 fit best?
2nd: Will there be a substantial power loss?
3rd: Any brand recommendations?
4th: What other considerations should I keep in mind?
Side note: Anyone know of an available wide body kit for our 1st gens?
Thanks as always folks!

I ran 17x8 et 38 Team Dynamics on my R56 cuz they would fit over my VMaxx bbk. No power loss as they were lighter than my 18s. No fitment issues at all and even add a 5mm spacer in the rear to help flush it out. A little different but a good starting point for reference.

Tire size and camber setting have an effect on fit, also. Wheel size, design, and offset will have a greater impact on clearance to strut and brakes.

With a x8, personally I would run et35 on a first gen car.
