205/45 vs 205/50 tyre option considerations
My stock '09 JCW comes with the standard R112 rims and 205/45 R17 tyres.
Recently, I ve decided to try out the Neova AD08R, but due to EU environmental restrictions, it was discontinued and replaced by AD08RS. The newer, environmental-friendly version of the road-legal 'semi', isn't as good as the older AD08R (according to reliable sources).
I can't find the 205/45 of the AD08R in stock anymore and the only option seems to be new AD08RS.
However I can still find the AD08R in 205/50. But would that be a good choice to make? Car is mostly used on road (spirited driving occasionally) and occasional track use. Personally, I am not bothered about the speedo/km meter reading deviation that would result from that thicker tyre. Also, I am not bothered about the goofy looks of the thicker tire on the car. My only concern is how it behave on the road (and track) and, of course, safety.
Given the above priorities, is the 205/50 still applicable, or should I stick with the MINI endorsed 205/45 and go for the slightly inferior AD08RS?
Any input will be appreciated from people that have extensive enperience on the 205/50 tyre on their JCW or S.
Thank you!
