Winter tire pkg struggle!

2016 Countryman All4 S. Getting a ton of mixed messages from dealers on right pkg. in relation to fitting over calipers. Mini USA has blizzak 16” 195/60/16 w steel rim R12 6.5x16. Dealer said no go. Suggested 17” to insure fit. Tire rack does not have anything. BMW said the Blizzak rim won’t fit. Wow. Without paying $1300 what do you do.

I have the 2015 JCW Countryman and use the 16" Steel wheels, with Blizzaks. Bought them from the dealer on the same say I bought the car. Fit is fine, and traction is great

We bought a set of aftermarket wheels, tires, tpms off Craigslist for $500. On 3rd and final winter of tread life. 17" TRW, good traction in snow.

I've bought several sets of wheels from the classified section here on NAM. No problems with any of the transactions. Then I buy the tires from TireRack or Costco. So I've gotten genuine Mini alloy wheels and Blizzaks for about $1100. Currently, I have Nokian's on my Countryman and they are great winter tires. Unfortunately, not available from TireRack. tiresbyweb carries them and I had a very smooth experience with them.

I am running 205/70R16 winter tires on mini oem 16x6.5 et 46 alloy wheels as fitted to R60 One model in europe. The white wheels are the stock 18x7.5 et 52 wheels with 225/45R18. The silver wheels are the 16s.

For $1300 I'd buy a winter beater and keep my nice car off the road during the salt season.

16s should fit fine as noted above. You could probably even find a bunch of stuff for sale on Craigslist or the like that fit BMWs.

I found a whole set of 17s and Blizzaks for just $200 a couple years back. Still running them now.

I went with the 16 inch mini oem alloys from ecstuning. I bought them in 2012 along with the dunlop grand trek sj6 studless ice and snow tires 205/70R16.
I got 6 winters out of the tires, just got my second set last month.
