Hey you American Mini lovers,

Here's MiniHolland from Holland again, with a question.

Has anyone of you fitted 18" wheels under his or her Mini?
Not any wheelshop here in Holland can tell me if this fitts because there are not very much Mini's sold (yet) in Holland so they don't have any experience with this car.
In Holland the hottest thing to change about a car is the wheels and the wheels have to be as big as possible!!
I've seen some Mini's in Germany with 18" wheels but i have not spoke with the owners because i wan't to know if you don't get any problems with this size of wheel when you take some passengers with you.

Hope you guys can help.

See ya later.

If you are looking for performance, 18's are not a good choice, however i think i have seen 18's offered on the internet for the mini

Before you throw 18s on the MINI you should think about why. Is it for looks? If so and you don't care about reduced handling and acceleratation, go for it. If you think 18s will make the car drive better you should pick up the latest copy of Grassroots Motorsports.
They tested an S with stock 17s and said one of the only things they'd change on the car is the wheels. They actually suggested 15s and a cell phone! They complained that the 17s with runflats are way too heavy.

MY BAD... I think that was sport compact car (in the Jan 2003 issue) that said 15s would be best on the MINI, not grassroots motorsports as I stated above.

I have 17'' wheels that are also wide (8''). When I'm loaded at the back I get tire rub going over bumps. You can see them on Member MINIs, page 103...Before the Storm.

I have 16's on my MCS with the runflats....they are OK for roadholding etc but can get a little choppy on rough road surfaces. I shudder to think what 18" would feel like.....I don't think you want to go there!!

Hey Ron how you doing. I have some black headrest covers for you.

My partner has 17x8's on as well and they rubbed when 3 of us were in the car going around turns. So, I imagine if the width and offset is adjusted correctly then some one could get 18" wheels under there. He also has the Aero Kit. The stock Cooper or Cooper "S" may fit differently.

Ron, sorry I forget, do you have the aero kit as well?

Got the OEM 17: looks cool, but traction offered by Euphori@ Pirellis isn't that good.
Heard about the weight of these wheels and looks about double compare to non-runflats.
My choice would be 17 regular tubeless by Bridgestone SP03... and some good luck in not getting a flat one...

The mini I test drove had 18's put on by the Dealership owner. The ride was a bit rough but still got me hooked onto the mini. When I bought the car though, I had the stock 16" rims put back on. They can fit (need a VERY low profile tire) but the ride is a bit jarring.
