Metal Valve Caps are $0.61 each

I went looking for replacement metal valve caps for my tires today from my local MINI dealer. Turns out they didn't have a part number for it, but they did find it in the BMW parts catalog.

$0.61 each
PART # 36-12-1-120-779 CAP

They have the rubber seal inside.

Word of caution for those going for the cheap cool route. A friend of mine put some cobalt blue caps with valve stem protectors on my stems. Well long storyy short they welded themselves on my stems and had to be taken off with pliers and one stem had to be replaced. I believe its called electolysis, two dissimiliar metals.

Don't quite understand what you mean by these caps being the "cheap cool route". These are the same caps, atleast I believe they are, as the OEM caps that came with my Cooper, but when I dumped my runflats for Yokohamas, I didn't realize I was supposed to tell the tire changing guys that I wanted to keep my old metal caps, so I've had plastic caps for the last 10,000 miles.

I didn't have any issues for the first 20,000 miles with those metal caps.

But thanks for the warning!

Mini of Peabody, Mass. = $2.20/each. You do the math.
Off to my local BMW dealer.

I mean using cheapie pep boys colored aluminium caps. Not the .61 cent ones bought at a BMW dealership.

Sorry for the confusion.

Awesome, the part # was just what I needed. Had a tire shop replace my summer tire several months ago (1/2 the dealer price...) and I just noticed today after doing the winter/summer tire swap that it had the plastic cap - the metal one was missing. Thanks.

Well, either from massive inflation or horrendous price gouging , they're up to
$2.00 to $2.88 each plus shipping (Pelicanparts or BMWMotorwerks).

Are these the caps that would rust in place and become near impossible to get off?

I am just asking since I remember threads about caps.
