New tire suggestions

Just bought a set of 17x7.5 wheels. They're going on a 2015 S with stock height. What size tires would fit with no rub. Thinking like 205/45 or 50. But when dealing with car tires it makes me feel illiterate looking at the numbers

I like this site:
https://www.wheel-size.com/calc/

What is the offset of the new wheels? OEM sizes are 17x7+54(?) and 205/45-17. You could probably go up to a 215/45-17 tire and still be ok, depending on the offset of the new wheels.

40 is the offset of the new wheels. So an inch wider and shorter from what I think I understand. I'm guessing now there's a chance they'll be pretty close to the fender with the new offset.?

That's the same spec as my wheels. 215/45-17 will fit fine. You may be able to go up to 225/45-17, but the weight of tire may offset any performance advantage.
