"chroming" wheels

Yes, chroming has been done before.
Search in the tire and wheel forum for past threads and sources.
Chroming quality varies alot and you get what you pay for.

Rough cost is about $150 to 200 per wheel and it adds about 2 pounds weight to each rim. Durability should be at least a year or two then some corrosion might show if you don't keep your wheels clean of dirt and brake dust.

You pay shipping of your wheels to and from the shop that does the chroming- they strip off the old finish, fix up any imperfections and dings or scratches then start the chroming process.

JCW 18" wheels chromed would be nice looking but a bit heavy. Take good care of them if you do decide to do it.

Why not get them polished for less $$.??

Ck. w/ your local tire/wheel shops and ask them if they have a wheel
repair place that can polish wheels. Adds no extra weight and won't
corrode or peel/flake like chrome does, not quite as blingy but they
still shine up nice.

Later.

Chrome S-Lites

These were on my MINI when I bought it used. They are chromed. I have seen polished ones as well and they are a little duller in finish and a little more satiny in appearance depending upon the polishing technique. Chrome seems a bit easier to keep clean. We also have chromed stock rims on my wife's Honda S2000, courtesy of the dealer.

By the way, the S-Lites are for sale if you are interested.
