Tire Size Question

Tire Size Question
I know that there is alot of info. already posted in other threads regarding tire size choices, but I still have a few questions. I am currently running Flik Wasp Wheels, 17x7, 42et, with Toyo Proxes 4 tires in 205 45 17 on a MCS with H-sport springs. I will need to replace these tires in the not too distant future, and was wondering if I should keep the same size or switch to 215 45 or 215 40 tires. I d/n want any rubbing issues of course, but like the idea of a little bit more width. I d/n want to push load ratings, but I am confused b/c of conflicting info. about whether 215 40 is or is not w/in the MINIs load rating. Other than the difference in appearance, are there significant performance pros/cons between the sizes?

(dry, no passengers, not moveing... no fun)
However removes additional load bearing capacity that protects your wheels from damage -
The OE fitment had a reserve built into it.

205/45-17- safe choice/stock sized. Lighter weight and maybe lower cost for tire. Should work fine for street use and some performance driving. Runflats that fit the MINI come in this size. Selection a little limited for non runflats
215/45-17- potential for rubbing (slight- I just let it rub the inner lining of the wheel arch and pretty soon the plastic is gone but it did rub my tire a bit). Heavier tire- only a little, 10mm wider and outer tire diameter is 24.6" tall. Much better selection of tires available across many brands. No runflats in this size.
215/40-17- Good performance tires, good selection of tires, rougher riding and less chance for any rubbing. If you often drive with passengers it's not a good choice due to lower load rating as mentioned. Can be more expensive within a model/brand.
