Check out these '06 models and wheels by MINI!!
Just was snooping around on the "other" forum (MINI2), and found great international news on hopefully upcoming models. While I was there I got a pic of these new wheels going on the new MINI Cooper S Checkmate, they call them flame spoke.

Does anyone think these new rims look like 5 "u"s
Or maybe five horseshoes?
This is a 17x7" rim? Yup- they are. Just got an idea for a horsey/pony themed MINI with these wheels.
This guy has the right idea but doesn't have high enough standards for execution and body fit-
This guy's idea of a "pony car" is more about how it fits his pony (stiffer suspension would also help)
Hey, which side is up on that license plate?
No back seat, naturally. Not much "head room" either.
Maybe a sunroof would help.

(to make things interesting there are 31 streets in London named Park Lane)
There is a MINI dealership (MINI Park Lane) right there across from Hyde park. I've been there before their expansion- it was pretty small.

Ever since the S-lytes were introduced at a hefty 25.1 pounds each, MINI has introduced several 17" wheels that have been lighter in weight. I think they are interested in keeping bulk down and have design specs that limit weight to under 25 pounds (not that hard for BBS to do- but depends on the budget).
Will the "horseshoe 17" be lighter than the S-lyte? I hope so, or you will be seeing alot of aftermarket wheels on those new MINIs.
R85 S-spoke (aka S-lyte) ET50 25.1lb (11.4kg) [silver or white finish]
R90 cross-spoke (two-piece) ET48 24.1lb (10.95kg) [silver, anthracite with polished lip]
R91 5-spoke Bullet ET48 20.6lb (9.4kg) [silver, white]
R98 web-spoke (two-piece) ET48 22.3lb (10.1kg) [silver only]
R99 double-spoke ET48 21.9lb (9.95kg) [silver, anthracite, polished]
By comparison the heavy MINI rims include:
15x5.5" -
R82 8-spoke (aka Silverstone) ET45 15.2lb (6.9kg) [silver, white] (no longer available with new MINIs)
R93 5-spoke Rocket ET45 14.8lb (6.7kg) [silver, white]
16x6.5" -
R90 cross-spoke (one-piece) ET48 20.9lb (9.5kg) [silver only]
X-lyte is only 17.6 pounds.
