Black rims/wheel advice needed (and yes I searched)

Don't blast me here because I looked through the threads here and on mini2 and searched like crazy for cool black wheels/rims without "real" success, and yes I am experienced on Forums.
Here is my dilemma, I bought a 2005 pure silver MCS with a black roof and sport kit recently and want to have cool all matte black wheels before my baby arrives in about 3 weeks.
Ideally the wheels are set in deeper (kind of like MCoupe 5 Star wheels) but all in matte black.
I saw there are Flik Blasts (but only in 15 inch) and 5Zigen Fn01rc (not deep enough) and Team Racing Dynamcs Pro 1s (not deep enough either). What other choices do I have?
Thanks
Herbert

Herbert,

Matte black wheels are tough to find with a deep lip.
Maybe check the line of Rota wheels since they come in different finishes.
You didn't state what size rim you are looking for- 16,17,18"?

How about PIAA wheels at edgeracing.com
http://www.edgeracing.com/wheels/piaa/
FR-S (gunmetal) with polished inner lip
http://www.edgeracing.com/images/wheel/piaa_FR-S_(Gunmetal)_angle_zoom.jpg
17x7" +42mm offset 21 pounds $299 each
18x7.5" +42mm offset 23 pounds $369 each
If the gunmetal isn't the right finish you can have them painted matte black.

Maybe check out various wheels in
http://store.finalstageauto.net/wheels.html
for ideas.

From Tirerack.com (talk to alex)
Gram lights? 57S
Kazera KZ-A? black with polished lip
WedsSport SA-90
Zinik Z9 Sabini 18x7.5" black with deep machined lip

I have matt black deep-ish rims on mine. These are called Konig Blatant. They are out of production now though.

If you are really, really wanting this type of look, which will look great with the color scheme of your car, you could always find a wheel design that you like, have it bead blasted clean and have the center powder coated matt black. You can than go back and have the rims polished and the entire wheel clear coated. Cost for doing that though will set you back about $250.00+ per wheel. That is of course you are not successful finding a wheel at retail that fits your spec's. I found wheels I liked, the OZ Crono's had them bead blasted, powder coated white and clear coated and they turned out really nice. However, depending upon where you live you might want to consider a "winter set" of wheels and tires, the powder coating while tough can get chipped if you live in an area where they sand or salt the roads during the winter months. Good luck

I am looking for 17" wheels and ideally without a polished/machined lip. I love pfunk's Konig Blatant wheels, even though they are not as deep as I imagined.
But that is kind of the look I want.

I think it's very difficult to find deep dish rims for FF cars. I was looking for deep ones as well. These are only black ones I could find.

Rota has some nice wheels (at least what's on their site). How/where would you get them? (yep, I'm a newbie to this type of thing)

Did you honestly read what I said? I am looking for deep set flat black rims similar to M Coupe wheels, and I don't really see your TDR Pro Race 1 looking like that. Neither deep set nor matte/flat black looking. :-)
But I do appreciate your input.
Actually I finally saw some cool Motegi and Branzow wheels that I like.

Check these. When it comes to wheels you just have to blaze a trail yourself. Other than that I would look at the whole "show me your wheels" thread. The problem with wheels with lip is the offset. The MINI needs a high offset and doesn't leave room for lip. Look for some black spokes that are curved in and a polished lip. Good luck.

Sorry...missed that part I don't think it will be physically possible to put a "deep dish" on a Mini until someone provides a wide body kit because of the necessary offset. Even then, it might be tough on the bearing unless the dish went both ways and that means major inner fender modifications. I'm sure someone has the money/knowhow/time to do this soon enough:smile:

There are a few all black wheels at
http://www.wheelsnext.com/view.phtml...ING&f_start=20

Might not be deep enough for you. If you find a rim that is good you can always paint or powder coat. It's just that the demand for this type of wheel is limited.

Here is what I just bought from Wheelmax.com after they assured me that the yellow stickers will come off.

Can't wait to get them.
Thoughts?

Well, I am buying a look for my daily driver, not a name. At $800 for everything including yokohama tires I can't even get bicycle wheels with tires.

Yeh, to get Spoon quality you'll need to dish out heck of a lot more than
$800 for your wheels and tires.

btw, wat size tires did you get?

I got 205/45/17 in Yokohama EVS 100. I think the $800 is also less than a set of replacement runflat tires. :-)
