Oh Oh - I think I need help - a lot of help!

Well, I spent the last few days (on and off) putting in caliper stiffeners and new EBC brake pads. I started on the back and left the front alone. Everything is back together now. The car has had its back end in the air for 2 days. Without starting the engine, with the car still on jack stands (remember - rear end only), I thought I'd try out the emergency brack and see what happened (expecting the rear pads to grip the rotor). In a word what happened was - nothing.

Am I in trouble? What do I do now? I don't see any brake fluid leaking on the floor.

Any help would be much appreciated!

Thanks!

THe rear brake is self adjusting.

So if you put the piston all the way back in, you'll have to do th erear brake several times. Try this. Pump the brake peddel to seat the pads. While holding the brake peddle down, pull up the parking brake handle. Let off the pedal, and see if it still holds the rears.

So far, what you're describing isn't unusual, unless you've aready bedded the pads. The parking brake doesn't have as much travel as the hydrolics....

Thanks, Matt. I was just getting frightened having never tackled this sort of thing before, I thought it would be nice to be able to test before putting back on the wheels and taking the car down.

In the end, I just neded to pump the brake pedal a few times and it seemed to be fine.

Thanks for the speedy reply!
