Tire size & ride quality

I will be ugrading my wheels to a 17x7 et43 wheel. I have read some threads and posts about different tires and I think I'll be doing the Yokohama Parada Spec IIs... But I know I could do 205/40 -or- 215/40 -or- 205/45 -or- 215/45. Crazy!

I would like to have a nice ride and better performance than my holies and all season conties, which I think any 17" would give me, but what pros and cons can be had from these sizes? I was thinking 215/40 for a fatter tire to fill out the rim, then I'm thinking 205/45 for a smoother ride, then I saw pyugala's car (thanks, pyugala!) on 215/45 17s:

Now I want to do the meaty 215/45s...
But my MC doesn't need the extra weight of a huge tire, so...
Any suggestions?

Thanks! -Steve

205/45/17's would be ideal for your MC.

I 2nd that suggestion - the 205/45-17 ES100's I have are SUUUPER sticky, even compared to the actually VERY nice lateral grip of the stock Pirelli runflats I had on. These ride just as firm, have great turn-in, but have more stick off the line - I'd say about 5% of the slip off the line the P's had.

cool- Thanks, guys, 205/45 it is! I want to go with the yoko spec IIs because I found a place where I can get them for $100 ea! A steal, right? For that price anywhere else I would have to get some hankook or some cheap-os... I drive street and MAY track my car like once this year...

Peace-

-Steve

You'll like the ParadaSpecII's. I had them on a car I had before
and they are nice street tires for the price. It even comes with this
special silica compound where it keeps the tires pretty sticky even
at sub-summer temps.
