I am one of the privilege owners of an EVO 18” wheels on my 05 MCS. Love the look and the ride.

Most of you guys are crazy !! I asked if anyone is running them yet, not if you would do it to your Mini..

Anyway, 225/30/20 is only a hair larger than 225/40/18 which many users have run here. Granted the car is not lowered I understand that..

So, it won't be long before myself or another "young" user is sporting 20"s

Nice wheels, did Weld custom drill a set for you ?? OR did they make a run ot two if them?

any rubbing issues?

one of the members of our club has 20s and from what i understand he's constantly taking them to the shop to have the fender liners replaced. i think they look ridiculous on his car but, hey, to each his own.

To aswer your question weather or not anyone has run 20's ( dubs ) on a mini the answer is yes.

The ride was bad.

The handling was compromised, to put it mildly.

The wheels were bent out of round on a routine basis.

He had to remove his fender liners to prevent rubbing.

The 30 series tires he was running did not have enough tire wall to prevent pinching the tire causing flats, one of which was catastrophic and causing a crash that totaled the car.

Other than that they were a fine selection

JCW Driver's 18's look great. I wouldnt ever go smaller than my 18's. Or less flashy.

Let have fun and run what makes sense to us... I think 15 inch is the way to go for improved handling, braking, etc....Maybe even decrease need for a bbk.. I'm running 15x7 BBS RG-F that weigh in at 10.6 lbs and saves about 50lbs unsprung weight over the 16 inch R84 stock combo....

My thinking is that bigger is always better, but better is always better...

This is, IMO, one of the nicest looking MINI's around... Performance and looks.

Just my 2c... I am older and yes, pretty grumpy.

Personally... NO 20's for me. In my opinion I think it would look more ghetto than JJ Walker from "Good Times". I would opt for some Gucci Interior and a chain steering wheel instead.

I haven't seen 20" wheels on a Mini. That being said I can't knock it.

Currently? No.

Previously when I was still using my spacers from my stock wheel setup? Yep. I broke a couple little arch clips on two occasions, when hitting a particularly bad pothole. Plus the tires self trimmed the arches a little.

But the current setup survived a rather spirited track day last friday with no issues.

I do plan to get some track dedicated wheels and tires sometime soon. Running these 18's with pirelli p zero street tires and no front camber plates = short tire lifespan.

Ok, seriously...end thread hijack mode. Sorry.

I still cant imagine running 20's an being able to actually use the car to do more than go in a straight line.

But hey... minis are all about doing what you want, right?

Is there any rubbing with 215/40/18's? I have 215/35/18's now, but i would like some more sidewall. How about 225/40/18's, or would that be pushing it?

Thread is gone completely off subject... One guy "supposedly" had trouble..

People take what they hear and run amazing.. 225/30/20 is only .2 of a inch taller than 225/40/18 but some how rubs so bad it blows tires out..

If that's the case we better start a thread warning all the owners of 225/40/18 of the risk of tires blowing out....

So, when I get them people will laugh, and when I sell them in the Marketplace no one will buy them...

I guess I better just get my BBS LM's after all
